Welcome to the website for the Parish of Petite Riviere. New material is added to our site on an ongoing basis. Brief notes on the Book of Common Prayer calendar for the upcoming week can be found at the left of the PARISH INFO page.
Special events in communities served by our parish are highlighted on the COMMUNITIES PAGE. Below is a note from Rev. Oliver Osmond:
“Many of you will remember that last summer the Environment Network of our diocese distributed wildflower seeds that we were all urged to plant. I now have a hundred small envelopes of seeds and we are asked to do the same again. There is widespread concern about the worldwide reduction in the number of bees and other pollinating insects. They are essential not only to flower gardens but also to our food supply. The seeds in each envelope have been chosen because their flowers are particularly attractive to pollinators. The envelopes also contain a growing medium to assist germination. You are simply asked to scratch a small area of soil, spread the seeds, cover them over and then let nature do the rest. You can do this on your own property or a roadside verge. I shall have the seeds with me on Sunday.”
(The envelopes are a gift to all who would like to plant these seeds.)
Our four historic churches also welcome you when you visit Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. We use the Book of Common Prayer in our Sunday worship and to guide our daily devotions (encouraging daily prayer and daily reading of the Bible). Our hope is to have our minds and hearts and souls shaped by its reformed Catholic theology and spirituality, and to offer worship acceptable to God (if our hearts be right). Join us in worship to praise and give thanks to God.
